The Party For Greg - Friends, Family and Fans
The spirit in which Greg’s memorial was conceived could not have been stronger than when Greg’s true friends took to the Bar Academy Islington stage on 20 November (one year and one day after Greg’s passing). You could hear and see each artist’s commitment with every note played to the capacity crowd of 250+. And boy, did they play!
The house was rocked for almost three hours by bands playing many of the Humble Pie and Spooky Tooth songs for which Greg was known. The Greg Ridley Band cooked up a blistering set of Pie fare, starting with “Big George” and then “Black Coffee” with Steve’s daughter Mollie Marriott. Next, Bucket Colwell and his mates served a slice of Pie along with “Live To Learn”, a bonus track on the upcoming GR anthology. Former Spooky Tooth members Luther Grosvenor and Mike Kellie led the evening’s closing act, playing a set of Spooky classics that included “Sunshine Help Me” and “Better By You, Better Than Me” .
